Since their inception as the seminal punk tabloid of the late '70s, the Slash organization has always kept its finger on the pulse of new and exciting music. Their first release was the Joan Jett-produced Germs album; they have since followed that with releases by X, the Blasters, Flesheaters, Rank And File, the Dream Syndicate and others. Last year, after having lost X to Elektra Records, Slash Records President Robert Biggs masterminded a unique licensing deal for his label with WEA.
