Daniel Lanois: The Compromise You Make For Some

Scott McLennan, Rip It Up (Australia), March 2006

The "Fifth Beatle" moniker has been bandied about numerous times over the years in reference to everyone from George Martin to Pete Best, but if there's one musician who can lay claim to the tag of the "Fifth Member" of U2, it's Daniel Lanois. The softly spoken Canadian is now making his first trip to Australia to promote his 2005 instrumental album Belladonna, with his workload heavier than ever.
