Daniel Lanois: The Compromise You Make For Some

The "Fifth Beatle" moniker has been bandied about numerous times over the years in reference to everyone from George Martin to Pete Best, but if there's one musician who can lay claim to the tag of the "Fifth Member" of U2, it's Daniel Lanois. The co-producer of their albums Achtung Baby, The Joshua Tree and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, Daniel Lanois has recently slowed down his production duties for artists such as U2, Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel to concentrate on his own musical output. The softly spoken Canadian is now making his first trip to Australia to promote his 2005 instrumental album Belladonna, with his workload heavier than ever.
