MGMT: Electric Dreams

Scott McLennan, Rip It Up (Australia), 4 December 2008

Elvis Presley's vintage tune 'Old Shep' was written about a pet canine, Michael Jackson's 'Ben' was an ode to a rat and The Beatles' 'Martha My Dear' was named after Paul McCartney's dog. The stick insect pop genre was unexplored before New York outfit MGMT burst onto the scene in a blizzard of psychedelic sounds.
