AS FAR AS revelatory points in music history go, the moment Marina Diamandis points to as her breakthrough seems impossibly inane. In late 2007 the 22-year-old Welsh songwriter locked herself away in her bedroom and devoted days to handcrafting the artwork and burning copies of her debut EP, Mermaid Vs Sailor. Selling only 70 copies at the time, last month a copy of the rare release fetched 175 pounds on eBay.
