Kings of Leon: The Best of Times

Scott McLennan, Rip It Up (Australia), Spring 2007

TAKING AIM for the stadiums with their staggering third album, Because Of The Times, southern brethren Kings Of Leon have expanded their musical textures by adding ambient atmospheres, widescreen rock and gospel praise to the mix. Nashville's Followill clan created waves with the drawled blues of 2003 debut Youth & Young Manhood and its follow-up, Aha Shake Heartbreak, yet it's Because Of The Times which will take them beyond alternative radio airplay. The popularity of initial Because Of The Times single 'On Call' leaves the band with little leisure time for golf, as drummer Nathan Followill explained.
