War: California Ballroom, Dunstable

Tim Lott, Melody Maker, 19 June 1976

CLICK, WHIRR. This isn't a group, it's a living disco. The Jukebox is War. The dive is the California Ballroom, Dunstable. Burly evening-suited men flanking every door, mirror globes and ultra-violet tubes up in the ceiling, and smart young men with pubescent girls. The perfect venue for unflaggingly loud body music; which is exactly what the seven-man American band played.

Total word count of piece: 231
