Tim Hardin — An Infrequent Performer With Influence

THE EASIEST way to begin to explain who Tim Hardin is is to mention that he wrote — and sang the original version of — 'If I Were a Carpenter', a song strong enough to withstand stylistic pressures as diverse as those of Bobby Darin and the Four Tops. Strong enough indeed to make both versions hit records over a period of about a year and a half.
