They Weren't Dolls at the Waldorf Concert
Dave Marsh, Newsday, 4 November 1973
PROMOTER HOWARD Stein wanted to add some glamor and sophistication to the rock scene, so he put on rock's first show at the Waldorf Astoria Wednesday night. The attraction was supposed to be the New York Dolls, but even though that band is probably the best in the land right now, the real draw was the chance for the glitter crowd to soak up some of the Waldorf's stale chic. Unfortunately, even that never had a chance; the midnight party was a disaster by 12:15.
