The dramatic ups and downs of Ray Davies

Rob Fitzpatrick, The Word, July 2012

RAY DAVIES is not an easy man to pin down. Our interview is planned for 5pm at a café in Highgate. No, hang on; it's for 2pm at Konk studios. Oh, no, wait, it's for 6:30 back at the same café. Or maybe a bit earlier? At one point, as exasperation levels reach critical, word comes back from his management that Universal will pay for a baby-sitter if all this to-ing and fro-ing threatens the delicate balance of my childcare needs. That, it has to be said, is a first.
