STRANGE ONES, to be sure, are the disco misfits that emerge from (ahem) the Chic Organisation Ltd, aka plain ole Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, the men behind the Chic and sisterly Sledge machines. That 'Ltd' tag says it all: they work within the disco bracket, but their real corporate purpose and affections lie somewhere outside it, and the separateness seems strategic.
