Pop Think In: Plonk Lane of the Small Faces

uncredited writer, Melody Maker, 17 September 1966

STEVE CROPPER: Oh yeah! He's a sort of idol — somebody I admire very much. Actually I'm past the idolising stage. When you first start you always idolise somebody, like that guy in Mailbag who's got very biased opinions about Eric Clapton. I think Cropper has influenced about 40 per cent of beat guitarists. Stevie's been influenced by him for a start! Pete Townshend is to a degree. Cropper plays so simply, but effectively.
