Murray the K Dies; "Fifth Beatle" Was 60
Wayne Robins, Newsday, 23 February 1982
SUBMARINE RACE watchers walked hand-in-hand listening to golden gassers on the Swingin' Soiree. Teens jabbered in a peculiar language, taunting parents and teachers by inserting "ee-a-zuh" into each word they spoke, as in "ee-a-zits wee-ah-zut's hee-a-zappenin', bee-ah-zaybee." It's what's happening, baby; and what was happening was that their musical tastes and adolescent minds were being shaped by the benign inspiration of a New York disc jockey whose birth certificate read Murray Kaufman, but who was known to all as Murray the K.
