Wendy James: Now Ain't The Time For Your Tears
Stuart Maconie, Select, May 1993
EVERYONE LIKES a happy ending. Only a churl or an inveterate cynic could begrudge Wendy her return to some degree of credibility with this her first solo album. Having said that only a fool would pretend that there wasn't something wickedly delicious about Transvision Vamp's fall from favour. For one. they weren't very good, were they? And for another, well, it's always nice to see flash cockneys knocked off their perch, isn't it? It's the same impulse that makes it so satisfying when Chetsea lose.
