The man who'd barely heard of Brenda Lee (she married him)

Maureen Cleave, The Evening Standard, 14 November 1964

She appeared on the Steve Allen show and signed her contract with Decca Records in America when she was 10; when she was, 12 she came to London to appear on 6.5 Special; not until she was 14 did she have a hit, but by this stage the French, unnerved by such precocity, had put about the rumour that she was a 32-year-old midget.
