Squeeze: Coatham Bowl, Redcar

Rick O'Shea, Pop Star Weekly, 26 May 1979

'Cool For Cats' apparently is A&M's biggest selling British hit single ever. Not surprising really, because Squeeze are originals who've carved themselves a niche all their own. Squeeze are Squeeze and nothing or nobody else. Most of the time there's just no one to compare them to. They've created their own world. Or have chosen to reflect certain aspects of the real world. Their songs are about the seamier side of life and are as unromantic as you can get. A lot of them deal with, er, "naughty goings on". The titles speak for themselves.
