Squarepusher, Plaid: The Blue Note, London

APHEX TWIN is blocking the bloody stairs. Paul Hartnoll out of Orbital is getting crushed and Björk is lost in her own little world down the front. Plaid — the two ex-Black Doggers — are playing, beautifully inter-weaving repetitive electro-melody with discordant sounds. You can hear the Black Dog in them, of course, the Black Dog whose early tracks inspired Bukem's futurist drum'n'bass forays. But it's sardines at the front 'ere. Time to take a look back over there.
