SHEENA EASTON'S present success might be seen as reassurance that, even in this post-Sex Pistols age, the British mainstream pop audience refuses to give up its old affection for the music hall. It also has to do with the influence of the BBC's Light Entertainment department: she was, after all, spawned by The Big Time and nourished by Top of the Pops, and in years to come she will surely be a regular on the corporation's starry spectaculars.
