I'VE NEVER BEEN convinced by the cult of the superstar DJ. When the TV programme Faking It revealed that a bright cellist could learn to fill dancefloors and persuade "experts" she had been mixing for years (instead of a few weeks), I felt like cheering. Yet there are some DJs who are evidently much better than others. Not because of technique, or coolness or funny hats, but because they have good taste.
