En Vogue: Born To Sing (Atlantic 7567-82084)

Andy Gill, The Independent, 1 June 1990

FOSTER/McELROY'S recent E = MC² LP was a decent enough piece of contemporary machine funk, but it lacked personality despite the snatches of comic dialogue with which they broke up the tracks. The female vocal quartet En Vogue is an attempt to give the production duo's music more face, and if their current chart placing with 'Hold On' is anything to go by, it's already been a success.
