THE TROUBLE with this album is we know too much about Dusty Springfield to be convinced by the impassioned outpourings that the Pet Shop Boys obviously think she brings to their spectacularly contrived music. Less famous people often act more effectively as a blank emotional canvas for the listener to identify with.
