Library Rock's Backpages

Johnny Black, MOJO, August 1995

DODGY'S PRECOCIOUS QUOTABILITY, from the early "Rock'n'roll's been making love to the world for 40 years – we're the band to make it come" to the recent "If we had come before The Beatles, they would have been compared to us – it just happens that the bastards got there first", is almost as memorable as their sturdy pop. So the lack of sparkle when I ran them to earth in North London's Playground Rehearsal facility was disappointing. They were polite, businesslike, sensible and, apparently, shagged out.
