Crossroads at Sunset: Ben Harper speaks to strangers

Sara Scribner, L.A. Weekly, 24 February 1994

BEN HARPER stands beside a palm free on Pasadena Avenue in a navy thermal shirt, royal-blue Adidas and the green chinos he always wears. "I love palm trees. They're tremendous." He bends over to inspect the trunk. "By the way, what is happening to L.A.'s palm trees?" He acts appalled by the way city workers have been trimming them, as if they were plucking the crowns off kings and queens.
