Aswad are undoubtedly the most prestigious band who could assist in the revival of a genre whose popularity has flagged beneath the interference of other, exciting alternatives and the tendency for British reggae artists to seek an unqualified marketable pop status. The balance between fun and friction has long gone and, when Brinsley Forde asked whether everyone had enjoyed themselves, it ought to have ended in jeers as well as cheers.
