Throwing Muses: Throwing Muses and Kristin Hersh: The Grotto
Chris Roberts, Uncut, April 2003
FOR DEVOTEES OFTHE RESTLESS Hersh muse (Dido/Lavigne fans can stop reading now), a double treat. Guns N'Roses, Springsteen and Waits did it; now Kristin, who makes even the last of those seem jolly and accessible, releases two LPs simultaneously. One's her sixth solo set, a hushed, acoustic work; the other's from a reunited Throwing Muses (the eighth under the name) — the first since their cash-strapped split in '97, and recorded "quick and dirty" in three weekends.
