Wu-Tang Clan: Unity Church, Compton CA

Andy Crysell, New Musical Express, 22 March 1997

SO THIS is what they mean when they say that going to gigs is like attending church. In LA's most notorious district, 800 souls are pushing hard against the stage in what looks like a decrepit community centre. Sweat, smoke and fizzing intensity hang thick in the air. An event which was billed as a Genius and Ol' Dirty Bastard show — yet, from the off, reveals itself to be a full-blown display of the entire Wu-Tang Clan's boundless talents in snarling hypermotion.
