Womack & Womack: Family Spirit

Lucy O'Brien, Select, April 1991

WHEN THE Womacks play live there's usually a dog, a cat, several children and a mouth organ on stage. They're the original hippy couple, spreading joy and fam'ly love wherever they perform. Every so often they mould a sparse, funky moment in pop (Love Wars, Teardrops), then meander back into their ambient jazz-tinged blues.
