Victoria Williams: Victoria, Victorious

Erik Himmelsbach, Los Angeles Reader, 21 October 1994

THE WINDING drive up to Victoria William's house in Laurel Canyon inspires an unshakable seventies-era image – a la Joni Mitchell's ‘Ladies of the Canyon’ – of a straight-haired, barefooted hipstress looking down at the city that sprawls beneath her shoeless feet. She strums an acoustic guitar before retiring to a macrobiotic meal of brown rice and cocaine.
