YOU COULD HARDLY blame the ridicule-mongers for nearly swooning with delight a couple of months ago when Victoria Beckham revealed that she would soon begin recording her third post-Spice Girls album under the direction of Damon Dash, who, as founder of New York’s Roc-a-Fella Records, had heretofore patronised only hardened sons of the ghetto – the Mash Out Posse from Brooklyn’s grim Brownsville district, for instance, and Ol' Dirty Bastard.
