VAN MORRISON HAS TWO SONGS THESE DAYS. There is the casually crafted one which often climaxes with Van reciting the litany of great soul artistes — by implication aligning himself with such gentlemen as James Brown, Solomon Burke and Sam Cooke — and the mystic one, generally Celtic in flavour, larded with references to Zen Buddhism and earth communion.
