Tripping Out: How Two Donovan Songs Defined the '60s

'SUNSHINE SUPERMAN' and 'Season of the Witch' each kicked off a side of Donovan's 1966 Epic Records debut, an album that he's celebrating next month with a 50th anniversary concert at Carnegie Hall, and for anyone trying to grasp the duality – the yin/yang, if you will – of '60s pop, the giddy optimism and creeping paranoia, those two songs would be an ideal place to start.
