Travis Tritt: Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof (Warner Bros. Nashville)

Eric Weisbard, Spin, June 1994

WE COULD try and get worked up about Travis Tritt the woman-baiter, who made it huge with 'Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)', sang with Marty Stuart on another hit that went "this one's gonna hurt you for a long time," and never sounded more tickled than when he got to cover that Eagles song that goes, "So open up, I'm climbing in." But what sensitive men don't know, the lady fans understand, like the one who called up my local country station to opine that "Travis has the best buns out there." Like the stormy-at-first heroes of Gothic novels, Tritt is tailor-made for conspicuous consumption.
