The Wendys: Gobbledygook

Ted Kessler, Select, June 1991

NO LESSER pop pundits than Ian Broudie and Tony Wilson have thrown their lot in with Edinburgh's Wendys. And judging by this debut LP the investment (Wilson finances them, Broudie produces them) seems a wise one. Plucked from obscurity and shuffled rather than shoved into the public eye by Factory, The Wendys' first single, 'The Sun’s Going To Shine For Me Soon', showed the mosaic guitar foundations being prepared for Gobbledygook.
