The Strawbs: An interview with Dave Cousins

Jerry Gilbert, Sounds, 13 April 1974

DAVE COUSINS is one of the few musicians whom one can interview repeatedly and always come back with a fresh slant or a new revelation. The Strawbs are just beginning to settle down again after a long recession — the calm after the storm if you like, while Messrs. Lambert and Cousins re-formed the bad, toured Europe, toured America and cut the fine album Hero & Heroine.

This week they start their first British tour with the new band in an effort to re-establish themselves in Britain. The first question I asked Dave was how much of an aberration had their glam period been, and Dave Cousins, as always, was obliging and totally honest.
