THERE'S A SAD possibility that people are on the verge of discovering, exploiting and generally going on about the Detroit Sound (like they did with San Francisco successfully, and Boston abysmally). Detroit dwellers are proud of their bands and loyal to them, and the last thing they want is for some outsider with ulterior motives to pull a big sack over them and rush forth proclaiming nonsenses about indigenous styles and stuff like that. Here Dave Marsh of Detroit's Creem magazine talks about the Stooges, whose outrageous audience repelling or magnetising behaviour and "magnificent pimply rubbish rock" have made them into some kind of a local legend in Michigan.
