I ONCE SAW Drew Daniel in his Soft Pink Truth guise provoke such a negative response from an audience member that he must have been doing something right. It was at Sonar festival in Barcelona and Daniel was performing a punishing but infectious cover of Coil's 'Anal Staircase'. In front of me stood a couple of well-dressed Spanish clubbers, so angry they literally couldn't move. One of them gave Daniel the finger for the entire song, his shoulders bunched up in anger and discomfort.
