The Replacements: Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash/Stink EP/Hootenanny/Let It Be (Twin/Tone/Rykodisc)
Rob Hughes, Uncut, October 2002
IT'S EARLY 1987. Amid a fug of coke-induced paranoia, unruly punk misanthropists the Replacements have snuck back into the Minneapolis studio of Twin/Tone Records. Convinced their old employers have been withholding five-figure royalties and riled by the decision to issue the first three albums (and one EP) on a suspicious new music format, compact disc, the band members take matters by the throat. Grabbing the tapes, they head for the banks of the Mississippi, dumping them in the depths. Job done.
