The Replacements: Dingwalls, London

Simon Reynolds, Melody Maker, 7 June 1986

A SECRET shame, this weakness of mine for The Replacements. Their beery rowdyism and refusal to take nuthin' serious represents everything I abhor and their version of a US military anthem, complete with an interpolation about "the shores of Tripoli", confirms that they are truly all-American rock 'n' roll assholes.
