The Other Side Of This Life: Fred Neil, 1936-2001

Joel Selvin, MOJO, September 2001

"FREDDIE TAUGHT me a lot," says David Crosby, speaking exclusively to me on the death of Fred Neil. "He was an amazing folk singer, probably had one of the best voices any of us ever had. He was quite self-destructive and very good at isolating himself. He had hidden out in the Keys for the last ten years without anybody being able to find him. No one, not even close friends, could find him. But oh man, could he sing."
