AFTER A bunch of friends, including a young Jackson Browne, figured that singing Bill Monroe and Mississippi John Hurt songs in the back of McCabe's Guitar Shop in Long Beach was a lot more fun than attending college, they dropped out and formed The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1965.
