The Neville Brothers: Shaking Off Limbo

Bill Bentley, L.A. Weekly, 4 November 1982

MAY 1981: ART Neville and I stand outside his home in uptown New Orleans. The annual Jazz & Heritage festival is just now over, and the Neville Brothers — Art, Aaron, Charles and Cyril — are hot off a special show in celebration of the release of their second album, Fiyo on the Bayou (A&M). Art is happy. The record is a certified smoker, faithfully capturing the hot-blooded rhythm & blues the band churns out with such spirit. All lights seem green. Success has been a long time coming, but it appears there might be an end to the tunnel after all.
