THREE DAYS after the show I discovered that the one in the flouncy skirt and petticoats who sashayed vivaciously round the stage, laughing with each of the band, was in fact the mother. The mature, responsible one was the daughter. My flabber has never been so ghasted. Even now I keep hoping it's just a Freudian joke.
