The Impressions: Introducing Leroy Hutson

John Abbey, Blues & Soul, 8 October 1971

IN ALL honesty, it was strange to see Fred Cash and Sam Gooden flanking a new "leader" and central figure of The Impressions. Sadly, the most part of our readers will never have been able to see the Imps when Curtis was there in the middle, nonchanantly playing his guitar and stealing up on the microphone. Fred and Sam are every bit as entertaining and mobile and there in the middle is the slim, slightly built Leroy Hutson, a man steeped in music, a batchelor of Music from Washington's famed Howard University. On qualifications, it would take a man of Leroy's ability to even step in for Curtis, let alone replace him.
