MY CONTENDER as the man "most likely to get ripped to pieces by hysterical females" in 1967 is Peter Frampton, the seventeen-year-old vocal-guitarist with the Herd. The signs are already ominous, as he regularly loses a shirt on personal appearances, and quite recently was pursued around Streatham Ice Rink by a bevy of berserk "birds" on skates.
