The Go-Go's: I-Beam, San Francisco CA

Mark Cooper, Record Mirror, 20 September 1980

THEY BURST on stage as bubbly as cheap champagne with a resounding "pop". Their clothes are swinging teenage sixties, miniskirts and tights, Mary Quant boots and lots of colour. Gina Shock behind the drums sports a Shangri-Las T-Shirt. Belinda Carlisle is dressed as a torch singer, tight forties dress, one sleeve slipping off her shoulder. She looks like she's dressed in her mother's clothes, the others like they're stealing from their married sisters' cast-offs. They are all very Hollywood and very cute.
