The Flock: The Flock (Columbia)

Lenny Kaye, Fusion, 17 October 1969

THE FLOCK is a fairly decent horned and guitared conglomerate from Chicago whose blues-based and otherwise eclectic first album is nice in an unobtrusive sort of way. It's good, solid music throughout and keeps itself alive through any number of playings. Some of the cuts have minor faults, but they are easily lost among the favorable things that are happening. In short, a good competent band with potential for future growth.
