CERTAINLY ONE of the most successful teams to grace the Motown stable in recent times has been the Commodores, a group who must take the credit to some extent for introducing that whole idea of 'funky music' to the company. True, such stalwarts as Junior Walker had previously been giving the label its fair share of good ol' funky fun, but with the advent of the Commodores and their phenomenal 'Machine Gun', everyone had to agree that Motown had finally made a strong entry into a field dominated by such heavy acts as Kool & The Gang, The J.B's.
