Perched on the edge of a bleak Bronte-like heath overlooking Bradford is the hotel in which The Pretenders are staying. In the forecourt, next to the band's touring coach, a vulgarly stripped white Porsche squats by the main entrance as though it's having a crap, a testament to Northern flash kitsch.
