Norman Jopling, 'Shake It Up, Baby!', March 2015

THE RECORD MIRROR office was a four-room apartment above Drum City at 116 Shaftesbury Avenue and employed a total of nine full-time staff and numerous freelances.  It was one of the several pop weeklies that flourished from the mid-'50s to the '90s and it was nationally distributed.  DeHems Oyster Bar was a pub just round the corner in Macclesfield Street where the Record Mirror reporters would hold court to artists, publicists, managers, agents, hangers-on and various Soho eccentrics.
