Steve Miller Band: Brave New World (Capitol)

Geoffrey Cannon, The Guardian, 17 June 1969

Update, 2019. THE ARE three omissions and one serious mistake in the piece below on the Steve Miller Band's Sailor (October 1968) and Brave New World (June 1969 US, October 1969 UK). The band was formed in 1966. These albums helped to convince me that Californian bands mostly were where it was at. I discovered One Stop Records at 40 Molton Street, off Oxford Street, which stocked US imports with their thick card covers, often before UK release. I omitted to note the power, beauty and relevance of the cover of Sailor, as all can see on the internet. Design of albums caught up with the quality of the music, along with light shows and the graphics of posters and magazines.

Total word count of piece: 1283
